Vice Provost Kami Chavis, a nationally regarded felony justice specialist and a professor on the Faculty of Legislation college, has been named the R. Hugh and Nolie Haynes Professor of Law at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Chavis, who has worked at Wake Forest for 15 several years, will serve as the founder and director of the Centre for Felony Justice Coverage and Reform. The Middle will aim on issues including democratic policing, prosecutorial ethics, and legislation enforcement and technological innovation.
She will continue to be at Wake Forest right up until July 1, when she begins performing at William & Mary.

Chavis started her academic job at the Wake Forest University of Law in 2006 and was promoted to comprehensive professor in 2012. She has taught programs related to criminal legislation, criminal treatment, policing and prosecutorial accountability and the regulation of policing. Her investigation focuses on a assortment of felony justice concerns these as law enforcement and prosecutorial accountability, legislation enforcement and know-how, federal detest crimes laws and enforcement, racial profiling and bias in jury choice.
