JTA — A 19-calendar year-aged from Very long Island was killed in a car or truck accident in Jerusalem on Wednesday evening.
Adira Koffsky was hit by a vehicle whose driver misplaced control in a rainstorm. A 2022 graduate of Yeshiva University Girls Higher University, Koffsky was studying in a gap-year plan for Orthodox women of all ages called Midreshet Amudim, found just a few blocks from the incident site in the German Colony neighborhood.
“The full Amudim household is shattered, our hearts are broken and we are in shock and discomfort about the reduction of our beloved university student,” the seminary wrote in a statement. “All words of wisdom or comfort and ease are empty at this minute.”
Koffsky’s demise sent shockwaves all over the Fashionable Orthodox communities in the New York region, where she grew up. A Yeshiva University rabbi lamented Koffsky’s demise throughout his morning talk and pointed out that a neighborhood Orthodox higher school experienced canceled a prepared journey simply because of it.
Koffsky attended Hebrew Academy of Nassau County till eighth grade ahead of moving on to Yeshiva’s girls high college, positioned in Queens.
“Adira was 1 of the happiest, friendliest, and most resourceful men and women,” the college posted on Facebook. “She was sort, providing, and down to earth. She was a single of us, and we are devastated by this information.”
Koffsky’s funeral was set for Younger Israel in West Hempstead. She is survived by her mothers and fathers, Ann and Mark, and two more mature brothers.
The driver of the motor vehicle that hit Koffsky was a 76-calendar year-aged lady. She was significantly hurt, and her passenger, a 78-calendar year-previous gentleman, was also killed.
